Stuff To Do This Weekend

Alright, another long weekend and there are a whole lot of things you can get out and do...as long as the weather gets better!

First up, the Lantern Festival is on this weekend at Albert Square. But if you don't feel like facing the crowds with the smallest members of your family there are still a bunch of lantern themed events you can take them to. There is a free Lantern Making workshop in the Wynyard Quarter on Sunday, there's Dragon and Lion Dance group performing at the Auckland Art Gallery at 12 on Monday, and a traditional  acrobatic, dance and opera group at 3pm. Auckland Libraries have also got Year Of The Dragon events happening.

Of course, it's Waitangi Weekend and so there's some great free gigs happening in Henderson and Manukau plus one in Muriwai that isn't free but all proceeds are going to the Surf Lifesaving Club.

If you've got older kids take them to see the classic Stand By Me on Friday night at Silo Park. The film is free and will be projected onto one of the silos at 9pm. There are markets and food stalls on from 5pm ... hope the weather clears up by tonight!

On Sunday you should definitely head out of the city and up to Leigh Sawmill for Outer Base. It's a free, family-friendly afternoon in the sun run by Base FM.

Let me know if I missed anything out!
